Color Palette
The color palette of Habitual is swatched to elevate a sense of calm sophistication, featuring muted tones that reflect the natural beauty captured in the photography. Soft earth tones and subtle pastels bring color back to the nostalgia of the featured monochrome film imagery, creating a cohesive brand feel that resonates with themes of connection and humanity. This thoughtful use of color integrates with the visual appeal of type and hierarchy, creating a dynamic of warm immersion.
Printing
The zine’s first print batch featured risograph homemade recycled paper, reflecting a commitment to sustainable practices while delivering high-quality visuals. This printing technique provides a distinct texture and colors that complement the film photography, adding an artisanal essence to each issue. By utilizing hand-processed materials, the design reinforces the importance of mindful consumption, encouraging readers to appreciate both the content and its environmental impact.
Typography
The type system and layout are thoughtfully designed to enhance the overall reading experience while maintaining a luxurious contemporary feel. A combination of customized elegant script and clean sans-serif fonts creates a visual contrast that guides the reader’s eye through the content, ensuring clarity and engagement. The layout balances negative space with carefully composed imagery, allowing each photograph to stand out while maintaining a cohesive flow throughout the zine, ultimately inviting readers to savor both the visuals and the narratives they accompany.
